Louie Baratta likes to describe the menu at Something Italian, as “nothing too extravagant.”
It’s his place. So he can say what he wants. But clearly the restaurant has patrons who think the food is at least very special.
“I love everything there,” wrote a reader who suggested this downtown Des Moines Skywalk restaurant for “What’s Good.”
“My all-time favorite would have to be the Portobello Alfredo pizza ($20 for a 16-inch pie) and then the sandwiches,” Jessica Rutherford said, adding that she was especially fond of Something Italian’s veggie sandwich.
Something Italian sells pizza by the slice ($2.75 to $3.50). Often the slices are gone about half-way through lunch time.
